Admission to the program is by audition or invitation. Our program accepts both intermediate and advanced students. There are no restrictions as to age or affiliation. Pre-formed groups are encouraged to apply. An ability to learn, as well as to work with others, will be considered in admitting students to the program. Chamber music requires all players’ attendance and participation. Admission assumes the student’s interest in and availability for scheduled activities. Due to the low faculty/student ratio that is part of the TIFS philosophy, available positions are extremely limited and early application is strongly suggested. Room and board are not available. Out-of-town participants must make their own arrangements.
Please send a completed application form and a $60 non-refundable application fee to the address given below by May 1, 2013 ($75 after May 1). Tuition is $750. Upon notification of acceptance, a $350 deposit must be submitted to reserve your spot. The remainder of the tuition is due by May 31, 2013. Please make checks or money orders payable to The Institute for Strings.
Please complete the application form and mail it with the $60 application fee to: [ Download the Brochure ] [ Download the Application Form ]
Limited financial aid is available. If requesting aid, include a separate letter describing your financial situation and the amount requested with your application.
Students who are not currently studying with Mr. Sloman should contact him as soon as possible to discuss an audition. Auditions should be completed by May 15.
